Leaders changing style for recession
Almost half (41 per cent) of leaders responding to a recent Leadership Club survey said they had adapted their leadership style because of the downturn. Of these respondents, more than half (58 per cent) said they had got more involved with their team's work and focused more on the short term.
While there was widespread confidence about their ability to lead in a recession, just over half said they would feel more confident if they'd had specific training or coaching on leading in a downturn.

A survey conducted by an executive recruitment company - TheLadders.co.uk revealed some interesting insights into whether Executives are re-investing in themselves.
Here’s an extract….“More than one quarter of members surveyed (26%) reported they do not even spend £1 on improving their professional skills.
The shaky job market is however causing executives to focus attention on sharpening their skills and to maintain a continued investment in personal development.
Senior executives polled identified the key services they felt were important for career progression as:
1.Coaching
2.Training
3.Appearance
4.Personal branding
More than half (56.5%) of executives reported that they plan to invest in training in 2009."
